This was my first design delivery undertaking from the product strategy initiative for the tooling platform

A question pool is a collection of questions that serves as a content management repository for a quizzing application on the LMS platform.

My mission in this project was to uncover the painpoints of the content creators and other professional involved in the content creation process and device a solution that keeps the platform true to its mission statement of autonomy, efficiency and speed-to-market.

I was responsible for all aspects of the design process from initial research, prototyping, user testing and final design.

BEHIND-THE-SCENE

My goal was to understand the task that enables the users achieve their goals.

Task Model - new.png

Task Analysis

Through interviews and workshops, I collected information from content authors, managers and engineers on the task of creating, modifying and publishing content. The outcome of this research activity was a task model diagram that outlined design implication for the tooling platform.

Key Insights

Autonomy Content creators need complete autonomy over the process of content creation - from content writing to publishing.

Flexibility & Reusability As content writing for test prep is extremely challenging, the users would need access to all content previously written for reuse.

Modularity Use copy interchangeably for different sections in the question IA.

Quantity & Quality Ability to create good quality content quickly.

Publish & Versioning Maintaining content version and version history as a way to assess content quality.

Innovate Track usage data on published content in order to measure content efficacy.

Site Structure

I created a site blueprint for developers to start initial POC's for importing and storing content in the system.

The site blueprint recorded the various information component required by each page within the site hierarchy.

The site structure was the outcome of multiple interviews and card sorting exercise I conducted with content writers and managers.

From a design standpoint, this helped me get started on designing the site navigation system.

Search & Filter Component

Content find-ability was a usability metric uncovered through research and analysis. In order to achieve the usability goal, I conducted interviews and outlined some search behaviors that became design decisions subsequently.
